I am writing to ask you to invest in a very worthwhile community cause. I am running for mayor of Sandy Springs. I would appreciate your support and you participation. Please feel free to follow us on Facebook, Twitter or make a financial contribution through this site.
Sandy Springs has accomplished amazingly high – service levels at low cost thanks to a unique system of governance using private sector providers. The city is both frugal and creative in its service strategy. It has completed more than $50 million in street, park, sidewalk and other capital projects out of cash flow with absolutely no debt.
I was on the first city council which developed this approach and led to make it successful. Mayor Galambos personally recruited me to run because she knows I am committed to this innovative model and have the experience to lead the city in the period ahead. My plans include:
• Continuing neighborhood-based capital improvements aimed at parks, green space, street improvements, sidewalks and storm water repairs;
• Optimizing the innovative potential of the city’s unique public/private governance model;
• Executing the downtown redevelopment plan approved earlier this year by city council;
• Pursue smart growth strategies that deliver high-end jobs while protecting residential neighborhoods from inappropriate development;
I have an unsurpassed background for the job. A former HUD assistant secretary under Sec. Jack Kemp, I oversaw community planning and development for the entire country and coordinated HUD’s disaster response to the San Francisco earthquake and Hurricane Hugo. A former Georgia State Senator, I served on two different city councils – Stone Mountain and Sandy Springs.
In the private sector, I headed marketing for two Fortune 500 companies before starting my firm, iSquared Communications, Inc. The past chair of the Sandy Springs/Perimeter Chamber of Commerce and a member of Rotary, my wife Jan and I are parents to five adult children and they attend Holy Innocents Episcopal Church in Sandy Springs.
Please help this important effort? The maximum contribution by law is $2,500, but any amount – $1000, $500, $250 or $100 – is truly appreciated. Checks payable to the Rusty Paul for Mayor Campaign may be returned to me or mailed to P. O. Box 76027, Sandy Springs, GA 30358.
Your help is a great personal favor to me and an investment in helping keep Sandy Springs a wonderful place to live, work and play. Thanks for your help.
